- When there is a power outage from the utility to the data centre, redundant backup Uninterrupted Power Systems (UPS) are running and provide power without interruption to the Data Centre.
- UPS backup operates for a short period of time to allow us to start and transfer power load to N+1 redundant backup diesel generators.
- Diesel generators have several days of onsite fuel to remain operational.
- TELUS has refueling contracts with multiple suppliers that put us first in line behind critical support services (hospitals, emergency services).
- Proof point: The major power outage in Eastern Canada and the U.S. in 2003, and more recently in Vancouver, in July, 2008, did not impact TELUS Data Centre clients.
